Morgan+Pollard Landscapes was engaged as the main contractor for the design+build of the Dyslexia Discovery Experience Exhibit at 21 Worchester Boulevard, Christchurch.

Adam Pollard, Richard Fowler and Andrea Brown from Morgan+Pollard Landscapes took the project from the early design stages through to construction.

It is a world class exhibit and showcases another Mackenzie Thorpe sculpture 'Skipping'.

This courtyard is an expansion on the existing front outdoor gallery space. The aim of the design is complement the old architecture with the new, whilst providing a oasis within the city.

The meandering path depicts movement as it winds from the front courtyard around the side of the building and spins around the spiral. The path comes to an abrupt halt (positioning of 'Skipping') as the dry river bed dissects the path, the flow of movement continues to spiral.

The joy of child/ person skipping along the meandering path is brought to a halt as they ponder the challenge of traversing the stream. The motion and thought are captured mid-air. The juxtaposition of raised planting to the east, the stream and end of the spiral are brought together by the delight in the skipper.

The Dyslexia Discovery Exhibit is an outdoor gallery experience open to the public, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The primary motivation behind the creation of the Dyslexia Discovery Exhibit is to confront this reality, challenge the views that create this reality, and offer a seed of hope that may grow in power to shift mindsets and remove the shame that so often surrounds dyslexia.

The gallery provides knowledge, inspiration and encouragement for all dyslexics by showcasing the artistic, engineering, creative and business achievements of leading picture thinkers.
